The Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) has hailed Nigeria’s selection as the host country for the African Energy Bank (AEB) headquarters, calling it a testament to the nation’s leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing Africa’s energy goals.
IPPG Chairman, Abdulrazaq Isa, expressed his congratulations on July 6, 2024, stating, “This significant honour highlights Nigeria’s leadership and strong commitment to advancing Africa’s energy goals. It underscores our role in fostering regional integration and progress.” Isa noted that hosting the AEB is a recognition of Nigeria’s vast hydrocarbon resources, human capital in the energy sector, and the strength of its financial services.
According to Isa, the AEB will be pivotal in financing critical energy projects, spurring innovation, and supporting the development of infrastructure across the continent. “This initiative will not only promote sustainability but also drive economic growth, industrialisation, and create massive job opportunities, contributing to a prosperous and sustainable future for Africa,” he said.
Isa praised the Federal Government’s efforts, crediting President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership for securing this milestone. He also commended Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), for his relentless advocacy, describing his efforts as “extraordinary in ensuring Nigeria hosts the AEB headquarters.”
IPPG reiterated its commitment to partnering with the AEB to promote affordable energy, enhance energy security, and reduce the continent’s carbon footprint. “This achievement will help Africa deepen collaboration, meet its energy needs, and build a more sustainable future,” Isa concluded.
